I Got My Reward!

conclusion to Wednesday, April 9th post . . . (see below)

I was in the local convenience store at lunch.  The cashier asked, "Don't I know you?"
I said, "Yes. Weren't you here the day I gave those boys some money?"
She could even remember what I said that day.  I answered, "Nope!", when she had asked me if I knew the boys.  That had really surprised her that I would share with kids I didn't know.

I got my reward.  She told me how excited the boys had been.  She said she had told the boys they should enjoy the money I gave them for treats because that doesn't happen very often.

I made some boys happy and made some impressions.  I just hope the boys remember and pay if forward some day.

I stopped at a convenience store to buy a 1/2 off Wednesday car wash. There were two young boys in there buying chips. One of the boys was counting and recounting the change he had. As I accepted my change, I made a quick decision to hand it to the other boy. Then I decided I better add a dollar to it so he actually had enough money to buy something. He was shocked and tried to give it back to me. Nice kid! The clerk was shocked too.
She asked, "is he your boy?"
"Nope!"
"Do you know him?"
"Nope!"
Because of the boys lack of greed, he tried to give the money back again. I didn't want the money back. All I wanted was for him to enjoy a treat with his buddy. Again I didn't get to see the end result, but it was so worth it to me. Maybe the boy will be inspired to do something nice for someone else one day.

I've always wanted to have enough money to anonymously help people when they least expect it. I'm still waiting for that $. I can spare a couple dollars once in a while though. I think of it as paying it forward for all the times people helped me out or share a dollar or two. Unlike the man begging for money last night. His story didn't add up and he was soliciting everyone in the parking lot. I do not like to help dishonest beggars. I mentioned then that I didn't like people approaching me for money.
Then said, "I will decide who I wanted to give my money to".
Maybe that's what sparked my generosity today. No matter. I just want those two boys to have a great afternoon.

Chicken Therapy

After another grueling day of sitting at a computer in a windowless box, I went home with a headache.

When I got home I went out back to be with the chickens.  I took them bread.  I sat with them and hand fed them.  Then got the shovel and dug up worms for them.  It felt great to be barefoot in the garden with my chickens.  Once I headed inside I realized my headache was gone.

Who knew chickens could be such great therapy!

Chrome Dome

I saw something new on the freeway morning. A CHROME MOTORCYCLE HELMET.

That gives new meaning to "chrome dome"!

Speaking of helmets . . . my sister called me last week after she got bucked off her motorcycle.  She did score 8 seconds first.  Her husband told her to put on her new helmet before she left.  Plus it's a rule for her boys to wear a helmet when they ride.  But stubborn her, she didn't put one on.  She ended up bouncing her head off the pavement when the bike wheelied over.  It sounds like it knocked her silly for a while.  By going ass over elbows she probably softened the blow to her head.  Plus having a ponytail in her hair.  She has a bruised butt and the scraped elbows but her head seems to be fine.  If she's not too thick sculled, she might put on a helmet next time.
